2023 Online Live All-day Retreat: Spring

Saturday, May 20th, 10:00 am—4:00 pm PDT
Online Live Retreat Hall

Come to retreat and get guidance in the fundamentals. Support and encourage yourself and others by practicing together—it’s easier than you think!

There is no charge for people who are currently enrolled in or have completed a StressCare 8-Week MBSR Course or Mindfulness 1-on-1 with Karin. Others attend for $20.

Sign-up is required for everyone so we know you’re coming.

A day of silent practice: opening the retreat

Participants enter and leave in silence as if in a retreat hall. Participants will remain muted by the Zoom Host (your instructor) throughout the retreat day, with a few exceptions when we have Q&A or discussion. Please observe our Zoom protocol.

Co-creating the online live retreat hall

Make arrangements to be undisturbed for the whole retreat, as much as possible.
Set up your retreat space following the guidelines for a regular class.
Set up the lighting for your own comfort and enjoyment.
Set up your computer so you’re visible from the front while seated.
It’s ok if you’re not completely visible when lying down or moving about.
Leave your video on for the whole day unless directed otherwise.
Optional: Set up a small focal point in your retreat space where you can see something that inspires your day—like flowers, a candle, a beautiful or inspiring photo or object, or whatever moves you.
Optional: Take a picture of your focal point and make it your Zoom profile picture during this retreat!

What to bring

Water bottle
Snacks, tea, and medicines on hand as needed
Your lunch, prepared so it’s ready to be eaten at mealtime
Yoga mat, camping mat, or thick blanket for work on the floor
Meditation cushions or benches if you like floor sitting
Light blanket or warm layers in case the room is chilly
Anything else you need to be supported and comfortable while sitting and lying down
Dress in loose, comfortable clothing
Journal and writing instrument

What to leave out

For the duration of retreat we will silence or turn off cell phones (unless needed for health reasons or emergency contact), remove watches (if you can!), and refrain from reading and writing unless directed to write in your journal. We’re wanting to simplify—to remove potential burdens and barriers to being present. There is no need to bring the Workbook.

Closing the retreat

We’ll be briefly unmuted at the end to say goodbye. Current students will have the opportunity to discuss their retreat experience in their next class meeting. Any retreat participant who is interested may schedule a Mindfulness 1-on-1 Online retreat de-briefing meeting with Karin Pfluger (session fee applies.)

Contact us if you have questions. We look forward to seeing you on retreat!
