Welcome!
We humans will always face challenges, sometimes painful ones. When we get stuck — and feel powerless, directionless, or inadequate — we suffer. Sometimes our lives are ruled by such thoughts and feelings, and our sense of life direction falters. Anxiety and depression are common expressions of such stuck or desperate feelings, thoughts, and behaviors that erode happiness.
For meditators with anxiety or depression
If you have had some mindfulness training and are feeling stuck in your life and practice, or are suffering from anxiety or depression, we welcome your inquiries about ACT 1-on-1 with senior teacher David Weinberg.
Freedom through ACT
Even though we will always face challenges, greater freedom is possible! ACT is a process that offers a powerful path towards freedom, flexibility and satisfaction. We can learn how to get unstuck, and we can embark on fulfilling life pathways even while coping with painful states like anxiety or depression.
ACT sessions are held online
All sessions are held on ZOOM, a web-based meeting platform. To join a ZOOM meeting, you’ll need a computer (desktop, laptop, tablet, or cell phone) and a stable internet connection. You do not need to create a ZOOM account. Once you’ve made an appointment, you’ll get details for joining your session.

What is ACT?
ACT (Acceptance Commitment Therapy) is a form of mindfulness-based cognitive behavioral therapy for treating psychological distress, developed by Stephen C. Hayes, professor of psychology at the University of Nevada, and colleagues around the world.
ACT offers inventive strategies for dealing with intrusive feelings and thoughts, and clear steps to identify and live from our unique and heartfelt values. Learn more about ACT
ACT 1-on-1 with David Weinberg
ACT 1-on-1 with David Weinberg is lively, engaged, experiential learning. ACT 1-on-1 integrates ACT exercises with MBSR principles.
MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction) is taught in StressCare’s 8-Week Courses. MBSR is an evidence-based behavioral medicine approach to reducing stress and pain, designed by Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph.D., at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center.
Together, MBSR and ACT comprise a powerful set of empirically evaluated clinical tools that work together seamlessly. David has practiced ACT with groups and individuals since 2008, and has been teaching MBSR since 1996.
What’s in a session?
ACT 1-on-1 sessions include conversation, careful inquiry, guided meditations, stories, humor and paradox. Sessions will review MBSR and mindfulness principles.
Sessions feature active investigation of personal values and resources, uncovering of facts and myths about anxiety and depression, realistic acceptance of unwelcome thoughts and feelings, discovery of the limits of personal control, skillful ways of handling perceived barriers, and practical methods of taking valued action.
This is truly coming home as a mature adult, where values and actions are aligned. Everyday life—with its limitations and problems—is vivid and enlivening. One enjoys independence and inter-dependency. You will be encouraged to develop your home practice with David’s guidance and support.
Are you ready for something new?
Be prepared to learn and grow in sometimes surprising ways! Personal freedom, flexibility, effectiveness, and satisfaction are truly possible and close at hand.
There is effort… but no need to struggle. It’s challenging, but everyone, regardless of limitations, can do it.
