Mindfulness and Values-based Living for Anxiety and Depression:
The goals of this special course are to help you eliminate unnecessary anxiety, depression and related distress; find your own deepest meaning and valued directions for living; and cultivate acceptance, compassion, and psychological flexibility.
The course offers a powerful combination of proven methods for relief of anxiety and depression: meditation, mindful movement and mindfulness of everyday events; concentration on breath and body for calming and relaxation; exercises for clarifying and accessing individual values, goals and resources for a full and meaningful life; and cultivation of acceptance of the full range of sensory and mental experience without avoidance, suppression or judgment. All of these approaches are based on mindfulness, the capacity to attend to one's experience, moment-to-moment, in an open, non-judgmental way.
Class size is limited. Privacy is assured. The course is rigorous: it requires a commitment from each participant to attend all classes, the retreat and the follow-up sessions, to participate actively in class, and to complete exercises between classes on a daily basis. People who are willing to make such a commitment are warmly invited to enroll.
Dates, times: Nine consecutive Thursday evenings, September 25 - November 20, 7 to 9:30 pm; retreat Saturday, November 15, 10 am to 4 pm; and three follow-up sessions: Saturday, December 20, 2008, February 21, 2009, and May 16, 2009, 10 am to 12:30 pm.

The eight-week course fee is $395.
Each participant is responsible for making timely payment
of course fees to StressCare: $75 deposit with your registration
(required to hold a place in the course), and the balance
of $320 due at the second class meeting. The fee is payable
by check or cash.
Your health insurance, HMO or "flex-plan" at work
may help cover the cost. See your physician for a referral
to StressCare. Contact your insurance company to determine
eligibility and authorization. StressCare will provide an
invoice or detailed receipt, but we do not bill insurance
companies.
