Individual Sessions with Karin Pfluger


Individual sessions are for men and women from all walks of life who face excessive stress in their personal lives, families, work, financial circumstances, health conditions, and communities.

You can learn to reduce stress and pain, relax physically and mentally, feel energy and enthusiasm for life, think clearly, act decisively, and get the most out of medical and psychological treatment.

My individualized sessions begin with an introductory meeting with you, which includes a careful review of your objectives, the particular stressors affecting you, any health issues, and other factors to help establish the best approach for you, as well as introducing some basic stress reduction exercises.  We proceed to four one-hour basic skills meetings during which I'll give you thorough instruction in stress reduction methods and their application to your individual circumstances.

I will teach you meditation, mindful movement, body awareness, breath awareness, awareness of everyday events and other exercises tailored to your individual needs and circumstances. Instructional materials are included.  Individual sessions are supplemented by daily exercises at home. Getting the most benefit requires steady effort.

Many clients continue their stress reduction practice independently after the first four meetings. Others elect to schedule additional mindfulness training sessions with me, at their discretion, to work further on specific complex issues that cause excessive stress.

Clients who have experienced trauma in their lives may elect to schedule additional Somatic Experiencing (SE) sessions with me. Unresolved trauma disrupts the nervous system, resulting in an often hidden source of stress. I will teach and guide you in a gentle, naturalistic body-based process which activates your powerful autonomic self-regulation, restoring physical and mental resilience. These sessions will build on your meditation and body awareness skills. 

Karin Pfluger, BArch was trained in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) in California at the Mount Madonna Center by Jon Kabat-Zinn, PhD and his associates, and by David Weinberg in StressCare's internship program.  Ms. Pfluger is also a graduate of the Somatic Experiencing (SE) training program for trauma resolution. Ms. Pfluger has been teaching mindfulness training since 2003.
