For newcomers
Learn basic skills at your own pace. We offer one-on-one training for people who need a flexible schedule and individualized guidance from a professional instructor. StressCare’s individual sessions are based on the 8-Week Course curriculum – customized to fit your circumstances.
For continuing participants
Individual sessions at this level are for people who have taken at least one StressCare Course. Working closely with the instructor, your sessions unfold as an ongoing response to the questions that develop in your life and practice.

About David
David is recognized as a distinguished senior teacher of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) by the Center for Mindfulness at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, founded by Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph.D. He received his clinical training in MBSR in 1994.
David has practiced Zen meditation since 1978 and is ordained in the Soto Zen tradition of Shunryu Suzuki Roshi. He is the founder and teacher of Ocean Sangha, a Zen practice group and StressCare sister organization, and is a proud father.
David has a longstanding, profound commitment to mindfulness and meditation as the foundation of his life; and is known for his insight, humor and compassion in his teaching.
Sessions with Karin Pfluger
About Karin
Karin received her clinical training in stress reduction (MBSR) at the West Coast Teacher Development Program of the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, founded by Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph. D., and as a StressCare intern; completing her training in 2004. She is a certified Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP) for mindfulness-based trauma resolution. Another aspect of her work includes teaching mindfulness in public elementary school classrooms.
Karin has practiced Zen meditation since 1983 and yoga since 1997, and is lay ordained in the Soto Zen tradition of Shunryu Suzuki Roshi. Karin is a mother and holds a California Architect’s License.
Karin leads retreats for health care providers, educators, physician-referred patients, and the general public; and works with both groups and individuals teaching basic and advanced methods for stress reduction.
Karin loves the practice of mindfulness, and is devoted to helping everyone she meets find their deepest happiness and innate wholeness.
